The Most Dangerous Places Near Water – and How to Make Them Safer When we...
The Shore Safety Fixed Ladder is a permanently mounted rescue ladder made of hot-dip galvanized steel with serrated, anti-slip steps. It is designed for locations where there is no other way to climb out of the water — ensuring safety and accessibility in harbors, on quays, and at fixed or floating piers.
The ladder is easy to install on stone or wooden quays and fixed or floating pontoons. Spacers keep the ladder positioned away from the quay wall, while reflective plates mark the way out of the water, ensuring excellent visibility even in darkness.
Each package includes a ladder in one of three standard lengths, mounting fittings and spacers, a reflective “RESCUE LADDER” sign, and two reflective plates. All components are built for durability and compliance with safety regulations.
All Shore Safety lifesaving equipment meets the requirements of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) and conforms to European standards for waterfront safety.
The Fixed Ladder is built for long service life and high safety performance in marine and industrial environments. Its hot-dip galvanized construction provides strong corrosion resistance, while the serrated steps offer excellent grip in wet or icy conditions.
The upper rung extends above the quay edge and functions as a built-in handle, making it easier and safer to climb up from the water. The reflective “RESCUE LADDER” sign clearly marks the ladder’s location, while the reflectors along the sides indicate the way out of the water, fulfilling national visibility requirements.
Available in three standard lengths — 1.7 m, 2.3 m, and 2.9 m — the ladder can also be extended with a chain ladder (Pilot Ladder) for deeper quays or varying water levels.
All reflective materials are road-sign grade, with guaranteed reflectivity for ten to twelve years, ensuring the ladder remains visible and compliant with regulations over time.

Position the ladder so it is visible from as many angles as possible. The ladders are to be placed 25-50 meters apart from each other. Attach the included reflectors to increase the ladder’s visibility in darkness. The ladder should reach a minimum of 1meter below the surface at low tide, to ensure its accessibility at all times.
