The Most Dangerous Places Near Water – and How to Make Them Safer When we...
The Shore Safety Type-Approved Rescue Ladder is a multifunctional lifesaving tool designed to enable safe and efficient rescue operations from quays, piers, or docks.
Made entirely of marine-grade aluminum, the ladder is both lightweight and durable, allowing it to be quickly hooked onto a quay edge to help a person in distress climb out of the water.
Available in 3 or 4-meter lengths, the ladder can also be reversed and used to lift a person from the water with the help of integrated hooking brackets. Its built-in buoyancy elements allow it to float, enabling use as a flotation aid or, in emergencies, as a stretcher.
The ladder is type-approved (SP 149001) for use as a rescue ladder in accordance with the Swedish Work Environment Authority’s regulations (AFS 2004:3) and EU standard EN 131. All Shore Safety equipment meets the requirements of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB).
Engineered for professional rescue environments, the Shore Safety Rescue Ladder combines versatility, safety, and visibility in one robust design.
Constructed entirely from aluminum, it resists corrosion in marine environments and maintains structural integrity in extreme weather conditions.
Each ladder features red and yellow painted rungs for high visibility, along with four fluorescent yellow reflectors and a clear “RESCUE LADDER” decal, ensuring it can be easily identified in low-light or emergency situations.
The ladder’s EPS flotation elements keep it buoyant, allowing it to float freely if dropped into the water. It is supplied with double hooks for secure attachment to quay edges and spacers on the 4-meter model to provide stability during rescue operations.
Thanks to its ergonomic molded handle, users can climb safely over the quay edge without snagging or tripping. The design blends durability with aesthetics, making it suitable for urban waterfronts, marinas, and industrial ports.

Our ergonomic handle makes it easier and more convenient to climb over quay edges. The handle’s sleek design reduces the risk of tripping on the handle when it’s placed near a side walk. The handle is made of moulded aluminium and designed to hold up in all climates and to fit into the urban environment on both stone- and wooden quays.
Note that a flexible chain ladder is more resistant to ice than a fixed ladder.
Perform a “quay lift” by turning the ladder around, lowering it into the water, placing the hooks under the person’s arms, and pulling the ladder – with the person – up over the quay edge.
The rescue ladder floats and can be used as a flotation aid.
The ladder is easy to identify as a rescue device thanks to its red and yellow rungs, high-visibility yellow reflectors, and the “RESCUE LADDER” decal.
